alright, time for a lisa simpson-ish rant about the injustices of the world.

i was just watching CBS, and they're airing a michael jackson special honoring his number one hits. does anyone aside from me find that a wee bit ridiculous at this point in time? the man has just been charged (or accused, at least; i'm not sure if he's been formally charged yet) with sleeping with little kids for the second time. but for some reason, CBS decides to honor his musical achievements. i know that career and private life should be kept separate, but come on now. what's next? are we going to air shows honoring o.j. simpson's best moments? charles manson's ability to throw great parties?

now cut to the kobe bryant case. unlike in the jackson case, the evidence against kobe is quite meager. he admitted to being unfaithful, but his wife is standing by him, and the likelihood that he did in fact rape that girl is very small. yet kobe gets shit from the media like no other, and the level of respect for him as opposed to the level of respect for jackson while both are "innocent till proven guilty" is much smaller. i'm not sure why kobe gets this sharp, cold treatment from the media while jackson keeps getting glorified. and while jackson does garner a lot of ridicule, people calling him "wacko jacko" and such, they've made him out to be some good natured screw-up, a loveable fool. ew. no. he's a sick pervert. it seems like everyone forgets that, and kobe ends up getting the less favorable treatment because oh my god, how could a rich, hot professional basketball player who spends a lot of time away from home possibly be tempted by other women?!

there. so. i'm done. i had to write that. i'm done now.
