Okay, since the Phillies are not going to make the World Series (Don't talk to me about playoffs! We can't even win a game! [Not the game! PRACTICE!]), thus making HFA mean nothing to me, I hope to God that David Wright pops up (and subsequently spikes his helmet all >:@[) to end the All-Star Game.
I think it is some serious BS that he made the team, not because he isn't having a good enough year, or anything, but seriously, wow did they go out of their way to have him make it. (Lord, his comments about it are just like...gag-worthy. OH BOY! NEW YORK! EEEEE!) You'd think they could've named him to the squad before the Final Vote? It really takes away from Corey Hart making the team. Which, I am very squee-ish about. Did any of you all see his press conference? Where his teammates AMBUSHED HIM (and his little daughter...) with a beer-dousing? No?
Here it is! The Fish are staying in it, thanks to the return of Josh Johnson and the emergence of Chris Volstad. Well, it's a little early to call it an emergence, but 8 2/3 is not only a shot in the arm, but as Volstad puts it,
"awesome". Becuase you get to see yourself on SportsCenter, of course.
It seems Kevin Gregg has at least temporarily righted his ship. It only took a major meltdown in Colorado to do it, but hey. Speaking of Colorado, how is it that this team that swept the Phils last October, that poured 18 runs on the Marlins, can't SCORE A FUCKING RUN against the Mets. I mean, hey, the Giants? Are the Giants, I didn't really expect them to come out swinging, but Jesus Christ. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. And I would watch tonight on ESPN but I don't really want to listen to them talk about how INCREDIBLY AMAZING the Mets are for 3 hours. I will puke.
I hate Adam Eaton. I hate Carlos "GIDP every at-bat if it were possible" Ruiz. But especially Adam Eaton. Why is he pitching? It boggles my mind. Every fucking start he puts the Phils in a hole, leaving it up to the offense to take control. And that's not fair to them. I vote Happ takes his place! Yes! The thought of Happ getting a place in the rotation instead of spot starter makes me just all fluttery.
I seriously almost cried when they gave him a standing O before his last AB, on Wednesday. I'm so so so proud. ♥ And obviously a bit retarded.
But you know, even when I hate the Phillies, I only almost hate Jayson Werth.
MAN THE BRAVES WERE IN SAN DIEGO AND IT MEANS NOTHING. Haha, this is upsetting. I HAD BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO IT, as like, a grin-inducing diversion in case of suckitude by the Phils and/or Fish (which has happened!). Cuz, well, YOU KNOW. but sadtimes. Ehhhh.
