lol everytime Gregor Blanco would come to bat, I'd say his name in Strong Bad's voice. Yeah, I'm cool.
I would still find this funny, even if it weren't the Mets. But still:
Ramon Castro blamed his tardiness yesterday on, of all things, a pocket schedule.
The veteran backup catcher, who was benched and fined after showing up late to Petco Park yesterday for the Mets' 8-6 loss to the Padres, faulted a schedule produced by the team for the mistake.
The pocket schedule listed the game as a 4:05 p.m. start, but Castro said he overlooked the line about that being Eastern time and didn't account for the three-hour difference.
As a result of the miscue, Castro didn't arrive at the park until 55 minutes before the first pitch, and only after team officials called the hotel and had a hotel official roust him out of the shower. An unhappy Willie Randolph went with third catcher Raul Casanova instead.
"I was ready to come here at 1 because I thought the game started at 4," Castro said. "I'm a little embarrassed. It's my fault. It won't happen again."
Randolph, already reeling from the team's fourth consecutive loss, was not amused afterward.
"The explanation is not acceptable, and he'll be fined for it," he said.
I'm just itching to gloat right now (um, not about Castro, about the Mets). BUT I WILL NOT. Because of last year's happenings, I've learned that it truly ain't over till it's over. Mmmmph. *zips mouth*
But regarding the Phillies, and not the Mets. I could seriously just cry, I'm so happy they swept Atlanta. Plus, JDub has returned! In his first game back, he got a base hit, on a ball that was practically in the dirt, and Larry Andersen (the radio color guy) said that Geoff Jenkins said, about Werth, "Well, if you had 10-foot long monkey arms, you'd be able to hit that ball too!"
And, and VICTORINO, wth. I was ready to call for his head at the beginning of the season, he's just EXPLODED WITH AWESOMENESS.
I don't think I've really paid this much attention to the standings, this early on in the year since 1995. When they died after the All-Star Break, but ssssssh. The past few years, I've only gotten into the other NL East team's game, 'bout round July, August, It's been a defense mechanism, not watching the standings. This year, though I've been staying up till 1 AM to watch the Mets games, hahaha.
Speaking of Atlanta, I'm going to smack the TWIB section on mlb.com. When are they gonna have the archiiiiiive up of Saturday's show. *growing impatient!!* ajdsfklj
In work-related things. In two weeks, I'm moving back up to my old section. Sort of. They changed the division of the sections around, so I maybe be in Boys, but I'll have the same (crazy-ass Nazi) manager. But I'm supposed to have 25-30 hours, which sort of makes up for the commission I make down in jewelry. But yeah, a lot of shit happened last Monday, and I just got sick of having to deal with stuff I shouldn't have to deal with. Yeah, work isn't fun and games, but I don't like being talked down to; no one does, but that's on my Top 5 list of pet peeves. And I especially don't like being talked down to when I'm not doing anything wrong.
The only bad thing about moving up there? There's a contest this month, that, if you sell a certain number of Fossil watches, you win your own. I'm already at 4 (most of anybody in the section), I have about 10 days to sell 10 more, instead of 20 days. I hope I can do it, guys. One of the other girls is going on vacation the same week I move back up, which I find weird, but they are overbudgeted, apparently (which is why I haven't been getting as much hours as I signed up for, all the time) Maybe I can find some way to stay a little longer? But my manager probably made the schedules already. See, there's this
really cool watch there with my name on it. It's my second-favorite watch out of all the watches we carry, any brand. And my first favorite is a Skagen guy's watch that is way too big for my tiny little wrist, lol.
It's fucking deathly hot today. High of 98. Oh, and tomorrow too. And that's without the ungodly amount of humidity one is subjected to here. I was watching the Phillies/Braves games and they were talking about how hot it was down in Atlanta and when I checked the weather, IT WAS A FEW DEGREES COOLER overall, over the 4 game series, than it was here. Fkfjaldkjf. x( This heat's been sucking the life out of me...I've been sleeping pretty much half the day now, and not feeling any effects of "sleeping too much", as I usually would if I did that. I'm just like, mmmmm sleeeeep.
Finally, the Marlins are holding their Fantasy Auction tomorrow night. And one of the prizes:
Travel to the 'City of Brotherly Love' when the Fish take on the Phillies August 5-7 or September 8-10 at Citizens Bank Park. Includes airfare for two courtesy of Four Seasons Travel, hotel stay for two nights at the team hotel, a pair of tickets to all three games in the series, watch batting practice up close for one game, a Meet & Greet with Craig Minervini as you enjoy an authentic philly cheese steak, an autographed 2008 Marlins team ball and autographed baseballs from Philly stars - Chase Utley, Pat Burrell, Jamie Moyer, Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino.
GUYS I WANT IT SO BAD. Of course, I would ttly wear my Phillies stuff for all the games, lol. Except for batting practice, that would be maybe a bit weird. *grabby hannnnnndddsss!* I wanna meet Craig too. ♥
ETA: HAHA I just found this cute sundress in my closet from like, probably 8th or 9th grade. That's a size 0. Hahahahahaha sob. :(
