-Oh man, Gossip Girl is totally owning me. I hope I get a Barnes & Noble gift card for Xmas, so I can buy the rest of the series. I have seven or eight books. it kind of depends what you like about the show whether or not you'd enjoy the books. Blair's pretty much the same character as in the books. But book-wise, Nate's more of a pussy, less noble. Serena's more spontaneous, Dan's more emo, and Vanessa is more important. Jenny's, I think, more ditzy, and Chuck isn't even really a main character. He's just this peripheral character who gets a pet monkey and is pretty much jackass. S/D and C/B aren't the pairings like in the show, either. Nor any of the parent plotlines. In fact the only parent plotline is with Blair's mom who is married and expecting.

Everything goes by so much faster, there's so many different plots with the different characters rather than having them all tied together like the TV show. But I say if that description of the characters doesn't scare you off or anything, pick up the first book and see what you think. You can definitely see the TV!characters in the book, and vice versa, but the way the plots are set up might be offputting to fans of the show. I was kind of weirded out in a vice versa way when everyone knew each other in the show, and not really in the books.
