Maybe the Philly crowd will shock or push him into a different mindset, where he's less self-conscious and mentally tougher?
I don't doubt that the Philly fans will give him a chance. See, that's the thing; we give chances. We want you to help us. If the boos come out, for a while it's usually a "come the frick on! We know you can do better!" sort of thing, not the "we hate you go effing die" that comes much later as a result of suck + lack of effort + being a baby. If Lidgey can realize that and not take it the way all the other fanbases take that re: us, he will be mentally tougher. If not, well. It won't be pretty.
Man this league can be cold. Oh, I know that and am not like...upset about with the Phillies for doing this, just utterly confused. More than anything I'm sad for Costanzo, who, yes, I watched a lot at Reading (I even considered buying a Costanzo jersey when I went to the games). I've experienced teams being cold, as you say, with my boys before so while it still hurts, I'm kinda like yeah, thems the breaks. Baseball's a business at the heart of it all, as much as that sucks.
Ed Wade's the guy who gave Pat da Bat a very limited no-trade clause and the guy who stunted Ryan Howard's road to the majors by giving the same clause to Thome, and the guy who traded Schilling for crap, crap, and more crap. And the guy who just kept plugging bullpen holes and crossing his fingers that it'd work. Ughhhhhh omg I'm turning red just typing about him. But I don't think Bourn is a bad fit in Houston, tbh. He wasn't gonna get to be CF in Philly because of A-Row, or leadoff because of J-Roll. I really really hope he shines in Houston. Apparantly that means young talent Josh Anderson will be on the block then for the 'Stros(as I learned from soupypictures, presumably for pitching
