Well fuck.
I literally jumped out of the chair when Helms hit that RBI double. I was on the phone with blinding_voip and yelled RUN PAT RUN!
After Chutley made that great stop up the middle in the ninth, I was definitely lured into believing that they would put something together in the bottom half.
Goddamn bullpen! And only at CBP could Edgar Renteria hit 2 HRs. I'm just pissed because this game was pretty much decided by two things: Howard getting nipped by Chutley's basehit and Rent's home run. In other words, two things that really rarely happen at all but unfortunately both happened in the same game. :(
Seeing Myers pitch like the ace he's been dubbed was, honestly, a relief. Speaking of, I bought both the Inquirer and Daily News today at the Wawa. They each had Phillies pull-out sections. If I can use a scanner soon, I'll scan the cover of the Inquirer's section because it's pretty much the awesome. And by the awesome, I mean Howard, Hamels, JRoll, Myers and Chutley dressed up in suits with balls and bats.
But it seems the Fish got off to an awesome start. Jake worked a walk and didn't even K, it's an Opening Day miracle. I'd gush a little more over Hanley's amazing day and De Aza's great debut and Cabrera's monster upper-deck shot but I'm a bit crabby. I'm glad Dan didn't get his teeth busted by that ground ball though. Mah Uggs. How I've missed saying that on a daily basis.
This seals it. Once I get my computers/internet fixed up, there will be a Huge-Making-Fun-of-David-Wright post. I deserve it. Okay, maybe not "huge", just 2 articles so far. But then again, the "huge" could pertain to David himself. Whatev. I couldn't even read the one article in its the entirety because I was in the library and I was on the verge of literally roffling so I had to save it by gmailing the link to Pam and Myr.
I don't have the article and quote up at the moment, but apparently seeing the Cardinals get their rings makes David "hungry". Of course it does.
