Last night was some goddamn good National League baseball.
So for maybe the past couple days, I felt different, baseball-wise. And I couldn't figure out what it was, what I felt different about.
So I watched the NLCS today, and realized. I don't hate Tom Glavine anymore. In fact I am more on the side of like than dislike.
But I still hate Smoltz, so I haven't completely gone off the deep end.
Also, if someone could point me in the direction of any articles or snippets or factoids they know about Glavine and Greg Maddux and their friendship, I would um...appreciate that. Plz to not be asking questions as of why.
I must confess I never really watched Tom Glavine pitch. Like, I've seen him pitch. I've even attended a game where he was the starting pitcher. But since my attitude towards Glavine has always been, "I hate you, I hope you suck," I've never really watched him, pitch by pitch, and I was glad that Weaver tied down the Mets like he did because I couldn't wait to see Glavine get back out on the mound the next inning. And actually, I was bummed that he didn't get to throw a CG. Understandable though because if they need him, he'll be on short rest.
I feel so so bad for Cliff. But then at the same time, you moron, what are you doing out there? Seriously, who told you it was a good idea to try and tear up your Achilles even more? He's probably done for the series, if not FOREVER and that...that's just retarded. There's a thing called pinch-hitting, that could have been a good role for him this series, if he really wanted to help the team. Now he's gonna have a club foot. And who will buy David hohos, now that Cliffie's gone? No one, that's who.
Also, I see now why the Cards collapsed like they did. Wow. No wonder Cardinals fans piss & moan so much. Of course, if the Cards win this in five, their fans will be bitching that they OMG DIDN'T WIN IT IN FOUR. But anyway. They have a team that could be well, not great, but better than they are. IT IS SAD WHEN I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE CARDINALS BULLPEN > CARDINALS LINEUP ON ANY PARTICULAR DAY.
I really should take my meds. This Tom Glavine...thing...OCTOBER BASEBALL IS WEIRD, OKAY? :(
All of a sudden I CARE AGAIN!! Or, y'know, enjoy the baseball.
This happened last year too. I didn't give a fuck about the LDS, even opting out of the Astros marathon with the Braves to watch a shitty Eagles game, but as soon as the LCS rolled around, I was glued, at least the NLCS. I think what it is, is that I use the LDS as a grieving period.
But you know what's not cool? Like, at all? I work 10pm-7am for the next six days. So that means I will only catch about an hour of each game. Of course the ALCS starts at 4 the next three games. Of fucking course. And I get to miss the first four games of the World Series too! That is so awesome! >:[ >:[ >:[
Please please please convince me it is not a good idea to quit and try and get myself rehired in three weeks? But in all seriousness, if Game 4 of the World Series ends up being what could be a clinching game, I will call out sick. I have so livid, you have no clue. I know, I know, welcome to the real world, but it just really annoys the fuck out of me, because if this hadn't been my first few weeks, I probably could have had filled out timeslips so that I'd been able to get off for at least one or two games. But no. Okay. Abort rant now.
'Fox Grabs Girardi'- Okay, before I get all asquee, someone please tell me that Joe is actually good at broadcast-type stuff. Because this is the same channel that has Tim McCarver. But still, I'm happy. This could be a side effect of me wearing my Jeremy Hermida teeshirt, though.
lol God I sound so much more angry than I really am, in general. I'm pissed about the work schedule, but everything else is making me very very happy. I found that "Baseball's Best" thing on MLB Shop and there's a bunch of games-on-audio from 13 years ago that I would love to purchase and call my very own.
Did I ever mention that I bought a 3-movie Frank Sinatra movie collection that came with a CD? Because I did. And it's awesome. And I love him. And ♥
ETA: Haha, and okay,
this picture of Danny Haren trying to catch snowflakes in his mouth is still making me giggle insanely.
One last thing, I've had Taco Bell three days out of the past week. That's probably not good for me. At all. BUT QUESADILLAS, GOD.
