-To balance the fact that the first two games of the WCF were fucking amazing, two beatdowns ensued, first by the Mavs, then by the Suns. I guess I can deal with that. Gut-feeling, I had since the series started, we have a 7-gamer on our hands. Looks like it's gonna turn out to be true.
-I almost didn't watch the Marlins game tonight, but I figured why not? And I'm SO GLAD I did. If it's possible, I think I love Mike Jacobs even more. They had him micced during Batting Practice and played back segments before the bottoms of some innings. There were four different ones. And damn if MLB has the SF feed for the archive, but from what I remember
1- He was talking about Barry Bonds. "I have over 500 hits in the minors, and he has over 700 home runs in his career! That's like...that's like for every hit I have, POW! It's a bomb!"
2- Talking to Josh Johnson (or, "JJ" as the Marlins call him) about how the "hair-cut guy" is here. But apparently JJ didn't want his hair cut.
3 Complete adorability between him and Dan Uggla.
MJ: Hey Ug, say something interesting.
DU: Why aren't I micced? :(
MJ: *points to the camera* You heard him, the man's batting .320, mic 'im up!
4- This. About killed me dead. There's a bunch of a articles floating around about Mike and how close he is to his mother. For those of you who don't know, quick version: Mike's father died of cancer when he was six, and his mother raised him, with help from his older stepbrother. She was super supportive of him playing baseball, and even when teachers would want him to stay after school to do homework or whatever, she'd be like, "Hell no, he has a baseball game, sry."
When he finally got called up to the Mets, she cried when he phoned her to tell her, and after he hit that HR in his first at-bat, she went into work the next day and would show anyone who saw her the homerun on her computer.
So, I've read articles about how he ♥ his mom, but I never HEARD him talk about it.
ANYWAY. Here he was talking to Uggla.
"And I can't wait to go back home [San Diego]. I'm so excited, I'll have some fans there. And my mom'll be there, so I'm excited for that! If you're watching, hi Mom, I love you!" *half-waves to the camera, smiles*
Yeah, so. ♥ for Michael James.
I'm hanging out with my bros on Friday. Maybe Karen before next week, but I'm not positive.
