[She gives the overhead black hole a glare, but doesn't focus on it. Again we continue with the theme of not sounding particularly pleased.Just when I thought this beach holiday couldn't get any more fun, we get black holes too. Great, wonderful, fan-fucking-tastic ( Read more... )

Dango, eh? I don't think I've had any in years--well, at least not of the genuine Japanese variety.

You know, I don't think that any damage to the ship would actually do it any harm. Never know, bash on the control panel long enough and it might jog something into place! [not that he hadn't tried that method already. several times.]

Good stuff, isn't it? We get off this heap of holes I'll find you some.

[She wrinkles her nose in amusement at this suggestion.] Nah, because someone might get the idea into their head that I broke it more, somehow. Though 'percussive maintenance' is the way I usually get my TV working when it breaks.

Brilliant! [grins eagerly]

Ohhh, I'm an expert in percussive maintenance. Just about anyway. There's nothing a good whack from a mallet won't fix.

But why would you think someone would blame you for breaking it? Is it a habit of yours to perform such maintenance techniques on wayward electronic devices?

Yes?

Well, no, but things tend to break in my vicinity. I usually get other people to work electronics that aren't mine. That way it isn't technically my fault when it breaks.

[laughs] Well, you can be sure that if I fix anything of yours, it won't break.

I'm the Doctor, by the way. What's your name?

That so? Careful Doctor, I might have to take you up on that sometime.

Anko. Nice to meet you.

Great to meet you too, Anko. And I wouldn't mind. Bet I could have it done in five minutes flat, whatever the problem!

I'll keep that in mind. Always good to know someone who can fix things.

Oh yes. I'm your man! [grins broadly]

But for now, try to keep safe. If my suspicions are correct, everything should be fine again soon.

[After this second announcement, she stares at his image through the sphere for a second in disbelief. Did she hear him right?

Fine? Because big black holes in the sky and little ones all over lend weight to the notion that everything's going to be 'fine'.

[chooses to ignore the sarcasm.] It will. That's not the first black hole I've been faced with in my life.

And I've been sucked into one before. On that poor wreck of a ship nearly three months ago to the day, in fact.

...That can't be right. Black holes they, well, they destroy everything, right? That's...what they do?

[She sounds uncertain. Black holes aren't a big area of study in her world, but she's got the basic idea, she's pretty sure]

Other people are saying they remember another black hole. What's going on?

Black holes are a tricky lot. There's all these rumours and stories surrounding them like they're a great big hoover of the universe, sucking everything in until there's nothing left. But, you don't know what's on the other side until you go there yourself.

Now that I can't answer for certain, except that I do know our memories are being messed with. They were when we first arrived on the ship--or on this planet as the case may be for some--and they were again when the ship first went into a black hole, only this time, this new planet is. Things are not happening in an exact temporal loop. Events keep changing.
