i read it and i liked it and i thought : why not share?!
“My favorite though…” He paused to think, rolling his eyes back in his head and unconsciously stroking his mouth and chin, then he went on in a frenzy, as if he had more to say than the time he was allotted, “…has to be Innocent, by Our Lady Peace. It always reminds me how temporal everything is, sadness, misery, even happiness and serenity. The only constant is change. We try to keep our roots in the ground as we sway in the wind, hypocrites to the very core, unaccepting of the fact that the soil beneath us is moving too. That person who doesn’t even notice you one day may become your lover the next, and--” He seemed to choke with the weight of the words, “maybe one time you wont be able to hold back those words that always needed to be said…” As he trailed off he took a furtive sideways glance at the person he was sitting with, but his gaze stuck on her instead of returning under his control. She was looking up into the night sky, staring up as intently as the stars stared down, and the moonlight stuck to her hair and skin, bathing every inch of her being in divine silver light. Finally she met his imprisoned eyes, and he was overcome by her transformation to pale immortality. He didn’t notice how his watch stopped moving, or how the crickets stopped singing and the stars no longer twinkled above, or how, if he wanted to, he could look and see the wind itself eddying around them, seemingly urging them together. In that instant, she was the only thing in the world for him, and he did the only thing he could think of…
He kissed her.
