there are BUGS on the trees?!
I remember once when I was very young I was riding in the car with my parents. It was about this time of the year and they were in the front talking about springtime and the changes it brings and one of them said something like "look at all the buds on the trees." At the tender age of.... however old I was at the time I distinctly remember thinking they said BUGS and spent the rest of the car ride straining to see what they were talking about.
I LOVE SPRING. Just the little bit of green that has begun to appear on many of the trees on campus brightens my day. There’s a magnolia tree or two on my walk home, and I can’t wait until they are in full bloom. On the way to the building where my morning classes are there is a huge planting of daffodils right by the sidewalk. I wonder if OU would have a problem if I cut a few and brough them back to my room.
Being the "camp person" that I am I usually tell people that my favorite season is summer. School’s out, I get paid to work with kids and play outside and I work with my best friends, it’s not too bad a season at all. Deep down, though, I think my absolute favorite season is spring. I like watching the plants wake up from their winter slumber (especially because instead of just leaves lots of things have flowers!) and enjoy seeing people go outside to enjoy the sunny days. But shhhhhhhh.... don’t tell anyone. ;)
I’m already feeling overwhelmed with this quarter. I haven’t even been to the first of all my classes yet, and won’t until next Friday. I haven’t even been in to work this week as I’ve been adjusting back to the swing of things. And weekends? - I don’t have them, so stop asking. But overall I feel good, happy and incredibly optimistic. Hopefully it’ll last.... thank you spring!
