Con-Based LA Report [Finally, weeks later... w/pictures!]
Okay. So I really needed to do this. Not really for anybody else but for my own piece of mind, so I can keep the memory. Also, BE just posted pictures taken by the actors and that probably pretty much prompted it.
So okay.. hm, where to start. Thursday was pretty hectic. I got my nails done and then went back to the house to pack everything to take to the hotel because I was staying there with springaling and another fabulous girl, Isabelle, all weekend. I really think we could have had another roomie, too, we certainly all fit, plus Eva. And it would have been cheaper. Oh well. Anyway, started to the hotel for the staff meeting, which I was a little late for because of stupid LA traffic [and I had a panic attack in the car, I don't know why] and then Spring, being awesome, came up from the meeting to walk me down. So we went to that and I got to see sweetiejen [Jen] and gentleubervamp [Stephen] again. So after the meeting, I went and met Eva upstairs, who came to see us and we headed up to the room and I proceded to squee over how nice and oh-so-comfy it was. Soon we were to realize that the A/C was broken, but we got it fixed quickly. Then Spring came up and Eva animatedly told her about her run-in with the homeless man.. there was an entire act prepared beforehand, I'm sure. Too funny. Then Jen and Stephen came up and we discussed what we'd do for dinner and decided on... LaLa's? I think that's what it's called... well it was in downtown LA. And we couldn't stay out too late because Jen was going to go see Wedding Crashers around 10. Before we left, our other roommate, Isabelle, arrived and she's too awesome. I enjoyed hanging out with her so much. It was great fun. We invited her to dinner as well, so Spring, Eva, Jen, Stephen, Isabelle, and I all went out to dinner. The food was really yummy and Eva drank a shitload of sangria[sp?] and we even left without paying!--until the waitress came out and reminded us that we did need to pay. Turns out, none of us knew that we had just practiced the fine art of dine'n'dash, hahaha.. we just forgot to give the money we all took out of our wallets to the waitress.
Then there was the whole cab debacle. We called the cab service to send a van to our location about 10 minutes before we left the restaurant and then waited on the street corner like a bunch of gang bangers for at least 10 more minutes. So I called the cab company and found out that they had not sent a car, even after they told us they had, because there were no vans in our area. Soo... they lied to us. And, how difficult is it to get a van in our area? So I kind of bitched at the lady and she said that she could send a sedan, like one of those big mob cars, and that it would fit 6 people.. and I repeatedly asked her if it really would fit 6 people and she kept saying yes. Also, I ended up calling another cab for Eva, who wanted to go home. So I called and it was the same lady who I had talked to 5 minutes before, so I pretended to be Eva, softer voice, kind of withdrawn, and talked to her that way. LMAO, it was so funny, it was hard, too, because I had to keep from cracking up because everyone else was laughing at me. So we waited another 10 minutes and the car showed up. Uhm.. it was a tiny little car that, yeah, could totally fit 6 people -- if they were sitting on top of each other. Whatever. So after much debate and bitching, Jen, Stephen, and I decided to take one cab and Eva wanted to go home and she was sure she wasn't far from her apartment, so Spring, Isabelle, and Eva waited for another cab to accompany Eva to her apt. and then back to the hotel. BTW, our cab ride and their cab ride ended up being so much money and made me want to punch the lady who lied to us. We got a good cab driver, though, he was hilarious. We were angrily talking about the whole situation in the back seat and then turned to him and joked about a discount and told him what the lady told us, he laughed and said, "she LIED to you!". Anyway, Stephen and I decided to accompany Jen to the movie and I wanted to meet Erin, Jen's friend, as well -- she's very kewl! I'm glad I went. So we were dropped off at the theatre, and as we were getting out of the cab, Stephen called the cab lady to bitch at her some more [she was being totally rude and unreasonable on the phone, both times I called, which prompted the rude treatment from us] but it ended up being so lame, haha, because he hung up before he could say anything because he was "confused". Mhm. Aaand then after the movie, we walked back to hotel, which was only across the street, and went to our rooms and slept much needed sleep before the morning meeting we ended up not having to even be at.
Friday morning... Isabelle, Stephen, Jen, and I all got up at 7:30AM for an 8AM meeting that we didn't even need to be at, besides Isabelle, who was main staff. Jen and Stephen were PA's like me. So Jen, Stephen, and I all went up to their room so Jen could get some more sleep and we hung in there for a while before going down to get coffee, where we met up with Isabelle. We were sitting down in the massive main entrance room [which had the starbucks brewed coffee, yum, and other breakfast stuff] drinking coffee and talking for.. a loooong time. The chairs were so comfy and the table was kewl and the atmosphere was just really comfortable and we just talked for over an hour, I'm sure, before heading back up to our room. During out morning coffee, we had decided to go shopping at the mall across the street, just to kill time, so we got ready in the room. For some reason, Stephen wanted to come... to watch us shop. Haha. So we shopped a little, got lunch at the low-priced food court [the only low-priced food place in that entire area, haha], bought some shampoo for Isabelle and me to share, and then headed back because Isabelle had to go and work at registration.
So Stephen and I were waiting in the room for about 30 minutes until Jen and Spring got back from lunch and we hung out a little more and then headed down to the green room to wait for out guests.
Brigid actually didn't show up until about 8PM that night [it was 2:15PM] because she held up filming her new show "Over There" [Wednesday nights @ 10PM on FX]. So I got a lot of free time just hanging out around the hotel until Jen and I went up and got ready for the Cocktail party. I had to be prepared and down around the green room incase Brigid showed up so I ended up hanging out with Jen and her guest, Clare Kramer. So I got to say hi to a bunch of guests in the green room before the first Q&A with Clare, Jenny Mollen, Mercedes McNab, and was supposed to include Brigid but, you know. I got to say hi to Camden Toy [who I met a year ago in Tampa and hung out with a little at this con], and some other people that I had met before.. it's all kind of blurry. And then I got to meet Mercedes McNab [...cough... my friends know what I think of her... she was nice to me, yeah, but how she treats her fans and my friends... yeah:)], Clare Kramer, Jason Carter [who I LOVED! he was one of my fav. con guests ever], Scott Shwartz, aaand... whoever else was in there? I forget.. heh. Then I went with Jen, who had to be there, to watch the Q&A Brigid was going to be in. It was entertaining.
Shortly after, we went into the signing room and I sort of wofted around talking to people and hanging out, even though Brigid wasn't there.. I just kind of hung out. I don't even remember what I was doing between then and the time Jen and I went up to get ready for the cocktail party, around 7PM. I got on my cute black/white/130 dollar dress and Jen got on her way cute black strapless cocktail dress and we did our make up and our hair and had a little wardrobe malfunction with my strap and all that but we fixed it. We went down around 8PM, I think, for Jen to get Clare and we made a quick stop in the bathroom and had some more getting ready and girl talk stuff. Then we headed up to the cocktail party.
Once there, I found out that Brigid was there and that Vicki "forgot to contact me" so I went out and introduced myself and got her a White Wine from the open bar [sigh.. with help.. stupid laws], and then just sort of mingled around outside around her table. Talking to Stephen and Camden and met these two guys Ramsey and Joey and hung out with them and took pictures and then Brigid had to go get some sleep so I said bye and told her where to meet me in the morning and then got to hang out and mingle with my friends the rest of the time. It was pretty kewl. Hung out with Stephen and said hi to Jen while she and Clare mingled, hung out with Camden and those other two guys... said hi to Spring and met Drew Goddard, who is really great. Remembered my name the rest of the weekend and always stopped to chat with me, he's very kewl genuinely appreciative and way funny. So at some point I left my group of guys, haha, and talked to Jen a bit while Clare was hanging out the railing talking to people, heh. Then the three of us decided to sit because our feet were dead and my back kind of hurt. So we sat, chatted, and we heart Andy Hallet got there so we went out to greet him and at some point, Clare went home and the party died down and other things happened... it's all really fuzzy because I had been drinking a little.. this really good fruity drink, mmmm. Then I found out Eva was there and I walked back to the cocktail room and met up with them... I was kind of upset that Eva had taken the bus at night so far, I have my reasons, but I won't get into that. It all blew over later that night. There was quite a bit of drama and there were a few balcony chats... if you were there, you'd know what that meant.
The rest of the night is kind of blurry but I remember that Jen told me earlier I had left my envelope of money [over 100 dollars in it] in her room. So I went down to get it, came back up, put it on the bed, and then had to take Joey's or Ramsey's phone up to them, they were at a room party but they had been in our room hanging out and left their staff badge and cellphone in our room. So Eva and I went up to the room to take the cell phone and talked to them and Camden came out and was excited to see Eva and we chatted for a while and then headed back. Later that night, Joey and Ramsey were too trashed to drive home so they crashed in our room for the night.
So in the morning.. them lying on the floor was kind of inconvenient for someone who's getting ready. I got up extra early because I remember Jen said she was too and I decided in the morning that the guys on the floor were too difficult. So after my shower, I got all my makeup, products, and jewelry, and headed up to Jen's room to get ready with her. Before we headed down to the green room, I went up to my room and made sure Spring was up, then I quickly changed my top twice -- I was really unsatisfied, haha. Then we went down to the green room.
Okay... uuuuh... this is taking forever. I am way too detailed.. one of my pros and cons.. con tonight is that I'll stop here and continue tomorrow. But I will post the pictures -- which I did not take, but I didn't take any so I needed some. But I when in with photoshop and fixed it.. it's not perfect but I fixed it. Other than that.. LOVE this picture.
