The Hipster Strikes Back
In my last post, I ragged heavily on Moynihan. Mind, the original Salon article he cited was mighty dickish as well.
They did let the guy their writer most ragged on (and Moynihan posted a picture of) respond here, to their credit.
I know he comes across as whiny to some, and I'm not going to endorse everything he says, but we're obviously in agreement on the central point - there's no valid reason to rage about this guy or anyone like him buying asparagus and rabbit meat. If you support SNAP, he actually, genuinely qualifies for the program and is feeding himself, as is the program's purpose. If you don't support SNAP, there's no particularly reason to object to this guy's diet when you're objecting to anyone getting food off of taxpayer money.
It's pure cultural conflict, pure social disdain (and bi-partisanly so on Salon's part), and absolutely nothing more.
