Last night we were informed that Gunner's mom CH Clyde's Machinegunnin Bonnie was hit and killed by a car late Sunday night. She died on impact. Sandra the owner had let the dogs out (they live on a farm) the oldest female Hazel laid down and would not get up. Sandra had to pick her up and carry her into the house (heat exhaustion) and then went back out to get the other dogs in. She was able to get Dubbs into the house and thought she had Rev and Bonnie also. However, Rev and Bonnie took off and Bonnie went into the street. The person who hit her had ample time to slow down, could see her because of the security lights from the house light up the road, and or move to the side to avoid hitting her but instead hit her dead on at about 70 mph. The person did not even stop just kept going. Then when they were digging the hole to bury the dog the same person came back by at the same speed. This is a tragedy and it saddens my heart that there are people like this in the world. That someone could intentionally hit a dog and even if it was an accident not even have the common decency to stop, and then on top of it to come back by like that to what was like a slap in the face. I guess I just don't understand people anymore. I guess that I have always tried to see the good in people and maybe have asked to much of humanity. I am very sad about the loss of this beautiful, talented, and very loving dog. In honor of her we will start showing Gunner again at as many shows as we can. We will be putting a show title on Gunner for her. Bonnie was a show champion and was only 3 points away from being a field champion as well. That would have made her a dual champion which is a great honor. Bonnie will be missed dearly.
