Title: 09. Hide
Pairing/Rating: Sho+Jun, PG
Word Count: ~500
Summary: Sho has learned to hide many things over the years. It's part of the job.

Sho has learned to hide many things over the years. It's part of the job.

He knows how to hide the fact that he's had a platonic monster crush on that one awkward girl, the one who helps the Himitsu cameramen at the back of the set on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for about two years now. She carries around books and has a crooked smile and Sho doesn't know who he's supposed to be kidding.

He knows how to hide the fact that he's stressed because his younger brother has taken a page out of Sho's book and is going through a rebellious stage, and that going home is like stepping into a battlefield and not being sure which side (sibling or adult? sibling or adult?) he's supposed to be standing on. Even though he's hiding it, Jun gives him medicine for headaches and backaches.

He knows how to hide the fact that he'd rejected Jun harshly when they were both kids after Jun couldn't hide his own monster crush on Sho anymore, and that Sho had damaged that relationship for almost a decade and that, if it's anyone's fault, it's completely Sho's and he still feels guilty.

He knew how to hide the fact that he and Aiba were making out for a year or so way back then, when everything was sunny and Jun was depressed and Sho didn't care at all.

He knew how to hide the fact that he did care, that part of it was him subconsciously playing with Jun's feelings, seeing what he'd do, how'd he react, how his mouth would thin as he came into the studio, how his eyes got colder and colder. And then he hid -- or they both did, because Nino is just as much a professional -- how Nino had sat him down and told him that he needed to stop, that he's always been on Arashi's side and that Sho is part of Arashi, too, but if they're hurting each other, what does that mean anymore? Sho'd cried then, angry at everyone Jun Aiba Nino this fucking job college himself, and afterwards together with Nino they'd hid his red eyes with concealer, eyedrops and cream.

He knows how to hide the fact that he hasn't had luck with anyone, female or male (which is dangerous, but no less interesting), for about three years now. Sho tries too hard in relationships, and awkward hesitancy becomes seen as arrogance in the end, and after a while he's just stopped trying because he doesn't have time anyway. That's what he tells himself, anyway.

He knows how to hide the fact that his eyes have been hungrily tracing the rising curve of Jun's smile for years now as Jun has bloomed, become happier and confident, brighter and laughing easily, still the same Jun but maybe one that would have developed earlier if Sho hadn't crushed him, years ago.

He wants it.

Sho has gotten very good at hiding things, even from himself.
