Outside the number the interactions between regular characters was more interesting. Zoe and John appear to be a ‘thing’. They implied it right off the bat w/ Zoe greeting Shaw with “I heard you ....” - hmmmm, so John tells her things about his work. And then the adorable pink stun gun - a personal weapon is a great way for him to show concern, lol. Of course, the teasing from Shaw just seemed to cement it and Reese walking her home reinforced the regularity of it. A blatant statement in the PoI world of misdirection and obfuscation. Of course, if a romance has to happen on PoI this is the way that I want it to be: subtle, normal and reference occasionally like it’s no big deal but rarely highlighted.
I do like how they’re expanding Carter’s character. She’s out of the station house and expanding her comfort zone. Yeah! While I understand that Root is moving a plot point forward and Shaw needs to be integrated, I’m really hoping this is Carter’s year. I liked how she had a something in common w/ both Zoe and Shaw: shoes and guns. Yeah baby, Carter is both =D
Fusco was there but didn’t have much to do. Missed him =[
For that matter, Reese didn’t have much to do, either =[ =[ =[ And hasn’t so far this season /bigcry. Of course, w/ an expanding cast, I guess he can’t be the star of everything but I love him and can’t wait for some more kick ass Reese scenes. Really, he needs to be the uberest of them all. I’ve especially the odd couple interactions he and Finch had.
Loved the advertised scene w/ the ladies. Yes, it was a wee bit staged. But it was funny and cute and they didn’t drag it out (thankfully). Loved how Carter was familiar w/ Zoe’s designer shoes and Shaw’s designer gun. And Shaw even had a peek of personality when she showed off her handgun (nano?) to Carter. And since I love Zoe Morgan and the sparks between her and John, I adored the pink stun gun she casually waved around. Interestingly, Shaw wasn’t at all hostile or aggressive w/ the other ladies so maybe it’s not her personality … she’s a man hater for some reason? I hope not. That’s an old and tired stereo type.
Liked the great escape of Root a lot. While her monologues are not as interesting to me they are very well done. I think she’s at her best when she’s on the move for a mission and by the end that’s what we got. And I love watching her conversations with the Machine.
Lastly, I thought it foolish of Finch to go check on Root all by himself. He should have taken Reese - actually he should have sent Reese AND Shaw and stayed the hell away but he seems drawn to Root. And why they hell didn’t he run like the wind once he say Hersch all laid out? O.O blah.
Can’t wait for next week! (Although, I’ll be honest, I have no idea what it’s about. Maybe they’re disguising a game changing big secret? I hope so.).
