I liked the episode but more for the personal revelations than anything else. I loved parts of the episode but overall I'd probably give it a 7.5/100 (which is about as low as I go for PoI - I’m sure there’s a 7/10 or two somewhere if I could be bothered to remember all the episodes atm).

The number was pretty uninspiring - while the chameleon hook was interesting they closed it really quickly and left it unexplored. He was basically just being an uber-googler before his dates though his OCD files on them were creepy. And what about the missing girl? Granted, she was missing from NY and foul play would/should have been picked up by the Machine when it happened so maybe she was just a runaway - but it’s never mentioned again (that I remember). And the switch in perspective to Ian being the victim was very jarring. What happened to the rich old guy? And is it supposed to be good for the boy to have a random stranger show up and tell him “Your parents aren’t your real parents. Your mom is dead and I’m your dad! Your (probably) beloved grandpa tried to have me killed and so is out of your life now, but hey! Let’s be friends!” Gag. I felt no empathy at all.

I dislike the recent trend of bringing the # to a safe house and having them help solve the crime =/ -they’re gone as soon as the credits roll, who cares about them? They should save the focus on the # for episodes where they're really intriguing or have a possibility of returning. I think the writers are still having spasms on what to do w/ everyone now that the cast is so large. Sticking them in a large room gives everyone screen time all at once =P I suppose it’s nice for JC and ME - they get paid the same and get more time off. Season 1 had to be exhausting for them and I can’t imagine that would have been sustainable through 5+ seasons regardless of how awesome it was. Still, I hope they balance this soon.
