This week the topic is Bear, so what have we learned about him, what we thought of him, what scenes of theirs were our favorites, what further questions we have of him, etc.?

Bear is great XD

I think the writers are doing a great job with the dog. They're using him wisely.

I loved the episode where they used Bear as a decoy and he got to attack the "bad" guys in black. LOL

Bear was the big bright spot of S2 for me. He brought so much warmth and lightness to an otherwise dark action-packed universe. He played a crucial role in making the library and Finch and Reese feel like a home imo.

I totally agree with you on this! The show needed to balance the darkness with something like Bear, and he really has become a part of their family ^_^

I love Bear ^_^ I love how quickly he accepted Reese and vice versa, and how he eventually won over Harold's heart as well. That scene where he brings the ball for Harold to throw is precious :)

The fact that he obeys Dutch commands is interesting, and it's well used in the series. As a dog, there couldn't be a more perfect match for Reese :) (But poor Harold and his collection of rare first editions!)

I love Bear, wish he was in it a bit more. It is a credit to the show when even the dog has a distinct personality. I really like how he is allowed to be a dog in it and not a superdog all the time ie his obsession with the squeaky toy, his pining for John. Bear is definitely a fully formed character. As selenic76 said there was a balance needed, particularly in this season where the show got darker, between the relentless hits and having a bit of fun. He also allows Finch and Reese to show a more vulnerable side without being out of character.

Exactly this! I love how at first Finch didn't like him very much, but Bear won him over with his charms and persistance :) And that scene where Reese comes back and Bear goes to him and eventually knocks him over, oh that happy smile on Reese's face, ♥! These kind of moments give depth to the characters, letting us get a glimpse of a side of them that we don't get to see so often.

And Bear is most definitely a character, and not just a prop, great work from the writers there.
