Finch slid into his seat, his hand gripped tightly on the numbered paddle he had been given. John had helped their current number to escape, but had not been able to extricate himself from the human traffickers. It had taken some quick work by Finch to track down the location of the auction and finagle his way inside. When it was finally Reese’s turn on the auction block, Finch was glad to see that he appeared to be in good health, although Finch had suspected the captors would try to avoid as much damage as possible to their merchandise. Doubtless they were using pharmaceuticals instead of force to ensure compliance. Finch could think of no other reason why John would stand there so placidly, hands cuffed together, no shirt, tight leather pants, and a studded collar. Harold was glad he had such vast resources as, looking around at his competition, it appeared bidding would be fierce. Still, money was no object when it came to securing the safe return of his operative.
That didn’t mean Finch would ever let John live this down.
