As a kid I used to read a lot. And I mean A LOT. Mom used to say I was swallowing books. But ever since I moved to the States, I practically stopped reading other than school assigned readings. Not really sure why. Was it the new environment, new responsibilities, or stress of immigration? Or may be lack of my favorite reading chair where I used to ( Read more... )

Shurik just thought of this idea this afternoon and we immediately thought of you guys!
We were kayaking in northeast Brazil when the thought of breaking in our new Taimen' by taking it down the Amazon river has become our new obsession.
We've been to the Amazon already, and it looks easier then most people think it is (piranha bites only if you bleed). We are also planning to be there again in the end of this month going on a cargo boat from Belem to Manaus, but doing it on the kayak would be way cooler. Of course the coolest part of it all would be sharing it with the right company. :) We were also thinking of calling Slava and Dima about this expedition. Anybody else?

hm... this route looks like a couple of thousand kilometers of piranha-infested waters. which means it is cool. I am only curious how many piranhas would stick to all the duct tape hanging from my Taimen. :)
Let me know when are you going to be in Boston so that I could plan to be around during that time.

The piranha is not a )big) problem.
