I know I haven't posted in forever. The last few weeks have been a blur of marine biology, heavy drinking/partying, and some pretty sweet eats. Highlights have been things like a trip to Bleacher Bar during the playoffs for the Sox game, Rebecca's birthday party (for which I made mad cupcakes), a biology department clam bake, our Canadian Thanksgiving celebration, a week trip to Lubec, Maine for monitoring fieldwork, a seaweed scavenger hunt, and mucho relaxing and hiking. This past weekend was also Northeastern's annual underwear run, which was awesome as usual. I feel I was in FAR better shape this year than last (an improvement) and I got to see just about everyone in Boston I've been missing all semester. After these last two weeks of heavy drinking, though, I seem to be suffering a two-day-long hangover. I guess it should be expected; being 21 is quite tough on the human body.
On this side of the Lubec trip, however, I realize I have a daunting amount of schoolwork to get through before Thanksgiving break (multiple research projects, four exams, my herbarium, etc). We also have a massive Halloween party to host for the entire MSC. Nick comes back from Iraq very soon, getting back to RI on November 8th, which is awesome! Sox are out of the playoffs as of last night. =( Least we made it to game 7!! We'll win next year!
I have finalized my travel plans for the new year. I leave Rhode Island on January 1st for LAX, then depart to Moorea in French Polynesia on the 2nd. We're in Tahiti for 10 weeks, then we get two weeks of spring break during March. I will be going to New Zealand for those two weeks with almost all of the other people in the program. We get back to the States on March 27th and spend 10 more weeks on Catalina Island, CA. I officially fly back to RI on May 22nd, but my flight doesn't land until May 23rd. That's just about 5 months of traveling carrying nothing except a backbacking bag and all the SCUBA gear I own (including like 20 lbs of extra weight)!!! I'm very excited, but very apprehensive at the same time. I also need to make sure I get my study visa for Moorea...
Dreams have started to get crazy lately, just really in the last week. I attribute it to school stress, too much drinking, and the fact that it is October. *sigh* On that note, off to do laundry, go to the package store, and later tonight watch the Pats/Broncos game!
