I JUST SAW THE HUNGER GAMES

I fucking loved it.

(Is it bad I'm relieved I actually like something popular?)

Rue was so cute. And Thresh made a crazy-huge impression on me given he only had about ten seconds of screen time. I loved Katniss. And Peeta was adorable. But Rue my heart. >:

I liked it very much.

ETA: I have a job interview too!

ogod yeah, Katniss and Prim just made me wobble. I kind of liked that we saw her relationship with Prim play out, then we saw a sort of...idk continuation of that with her and Rue? It was just so bittersweet and augh. ;; And the riot in District 11 woooow. It was great to see that intense feeling of rage spill out. Haha I'm so stuck in my media theory ways I started analysing it according to Gramsci's view of a hegemony. [nerdery!]How it's ideology perpetuated through culture (as we see in the beginning when everyone's going on about how brave it is, etc) and the second the people have to be coerced or forced obviously into following it (District 11's riot and prolly, importantly Cato's realisation at the end that he was never going to win since most people from his district would have heard/seen it and I'm guessing if a career tribute from a rich district (the military one?) has that kind of epiphany broadcast to all of the other districts, that feeling is going to be echoed in future. So that hegemony can't be upheld for much longer and I kinda want to see how it's going to all come toppling down.

And yesss the sound design. I really want the soundtrack now!

Music journalism internship! Working on articles on indie music for a magazine/website!

Yeah, in the book she definitely comments on Rue reminding her of Prim. And just auuuugh it's like. You know. You know it can't end well. But you want it to sooooooo much.

The District 11 riot was so intense ahhhh! I wasn't expecting it though because iirc it doesn't play out like that in the book? (I think I might prefer the movie way though.)

(That theory makes a lot of sense :o )

Just things like SILENCE or ear ringing noise or things sounding all muffled and weird and ahhhhhh. I love that sort of thing.

Oooooh that sounds like a good fit! Congrats!

Seriously. >>>: I just wanted her to survive, augh.

Yeah! I've spent the last few weeks reading up on riots and the one we had last year was sparked by the murder of a young father, which the police proceeded to hush up, so coming to that scene after weeks on a real life riot sparked by injustice was...pretty hard hitting. I guess that's why I sort of loved [Spoiler (click to open)]Thresh fucking slamming that other tribute into the wall of the cornucopia. It showed that the anger at the sheer injustice of small children having to fight to the death was fairly universal - he wouldn't have known about the rioting in his home district, but it was still enough for him to kill someone who said they'd killed Rue and spare someone who'd been her friend, despite Katniss being rated as one of the more dangerous tributes/someone it would be pretty sensible to eradicate quickly. District 1/Capitol looks like they're on top, so I'm kind of loving the hints of how close they are to breaking point.

Also Elizabeth Banks was hilarious. I only know her as Avery from 30 Rock, so her appearance as Effie had me rolling.

ty! I don't think I get paid, but it'll be an interesting experience!
