Yo, this is something which just came up in class - those of you who write, how do you create your characters? Are they completely invented, or do you draw elements from people you know, or yourself? A little of both?
I think for me, it's about 50-50, but I certainly do add in elements of people without realising it until later. I try to give them at least one of my traits because it means giving them at least one element of their personality I know I can play realistically, but a lot of the characters I find easiest to play are ones I've drawn elements from my friends from, even if it's unconscious.
In the same line as realism versus fantasy, how do you deal with PBs when you're playing? How much do they represent your character - how closely do their appearances match the appearance of your character? It it an exact match, or do you keep a mental distance between what they look like and your character?
...Whenever we talk about character building in class it just makes me think about how I build characters.
It's also ridiculous but I kind of want to do a drabble meme to escape from the drabbles I'm writing for nano.
