Cook a Real Goretusk Liver Pie

Feb 25, 2008 17:33

Here is my newest WOW recipe translated into WOL.
I was really proud of how this one turned out so I wanted to post it for my friends to see. I found one WOL recipe for liver pie (in Spanish) that inspired me to adapt this classic dish from Westfall.

The WOW recipe goes like this.
Recipe: Goretusk Liver Pie

Item Level 15

Like with my Fairy Tale recipes I like to stay as faithful as I can and still produce enjoyable food. I had to substitute beef liver for Goretusk liver. It would have been more faithful to use a pork liver but it was too hard to come by.  I am thinking about making variations with both gravy bases (instead of egg) and maybe chicken livers.  The term 'Mild Spices' gives me plenty of wiggle room but the game did give me a hint during the quest.

Salma Saldean: The onions are peeled. The garlic is minced. The rosemary is crushed. The crust has been baked. The dill weed is chopped. The gravy is simmering. Now all I need for my famous meat pie are 8 Goretusk Livers!

My recipe:

Components:

1/2 a beef liver (sliced and peeled if it does not already come that way)
3 eggs

1 ready-made pie crust
8oz sweet white wine or milk
8oz New York Sharp Cheddar (grated)
1 or 2 large red or yellow (not white) onions (chopped)
Salt, oregano, minced garlic, crushed rosemary, dill (I did not use any) all to taste.
cooking oil (to fry things)

Instructions:
1. Wash your beef liver and soak in milk or wine (whichever you prefer, if you don't like liver soak it in milk)
2. Prepare your ready-made pie crust according to the directions
3. Chop your onions and brown until caramelized
4. Cut your liver into roughly half inch squares cutting with the grain.
5. Fry the liver over a medium-low heat until just cooked through.
6. In a bowl beat 3 eggs
7. Add the Salt and spices I used about a tbs of each except the garlic 2 tbs and the dill which I decided against
8. Place the fried liver pieces in the bottom of the pie crust
9. Pour the egg mixture over the liver
10. Top with the grated cheese
11. Cook for 25 min. in a 250 F oven (or until eggs have set and cheese melted)

Please try this at home and tell me how it goes.  Enjoy a slice of Westfall in your own kitchen.
