I had a pretty good day today. The boss moved me over to PCs which means that I am not taking things apart but putting them together. They are trying to train everyone to do every job and I am happy to have this opportunity. Basically, what I have been doing is taking out-of-date computers, wiping or replacing their hard-drives and making sure they have memory and a video card, and a power supply. This is soooo much more fun than my normal work and the person I was training with told me that I am doing so much better than my predecessor. Which I guess started when I answered the question "Do you know what a hard-drive is?" With "Yes".
Even better than this, to my surprise the boss kept the temps I asked her to keep and Mr. Ex-Watchmaker/Metal Expert is I am glad to say still with us when most temps were sent home after we dissolved night crew. This is good because he is one of the few temps I ever had who did not need to be taught to distinguish metals or how to take complex machines apart.
