So, a friend suggested I post some of my poetry up here. I'm not feeling creative at all today, about to go in for a seventh straight day of work. Bleh. I'm leaving the national office supplies retailer to do office work and errands for a contractor friend of mine, at least until I leave for school. Money is still a problem but I think I got it under control, finally on the verge of paying off my loan, just the credit card to worry about now. Anyway, poetry, yes. This poem was the finishing peice for my first collection of poems, which was everything I wrote from 2000 or so up until the beginning of 2005. A lot of this poem threads together earlier poems, so I don't know how it will stand on its own. This particular one I'm not going to revise, but feel free to comment anyway.

Coda

five year’s striving
five year’s hope

is there growth?

truth ridiculed
importance a joke
words turn into noise
every time they’re spoke

nothing lost
nothing gained
everything the same

fulcra and inertia
dance only for the sane

my feet sound not upon the floor

hollow sandcastles, failed romantic
sing moon blues
keyboard bang
madness in a bottle

take my pills
wish it all away
everything is perfect
and everything is grey

empty perfection
full misery

more
less
