I'm having one of those days where you feel like you should be doing something but don't quiete know what. Sometimes I wonder if my entire life is like that. I was upset to find out there are Chemisty majors with a 4.0, which I of course don't have. Its silly but some part of me likes to think that if you're not the best there's no point trying. That's complete bullshit of course. It's a beautiful day, if I realized this a bit earlier I would've seen if somebody wanted to go on a walk with me. Actually, I might just head out on my own, but I'll bug David first. I haven't written much poetry recently, or I did but it didn't make it to paper in time, and so was stillborn, lost to memory. I've discovered another way of expressing myself though. I've taken different songs throughout my music collection and made a playlist, about a CDs worth, of songs that describe a relationship, from love, lust, relaxation, malaise, mourning and moving on. It's more subtle than it sounds here. It's a pretty cool idea. I like it at least. This is the song list, although I might change things around a bit:
Gary Jules - Mad World (pre-relationship, establishes tone and world-view)
Coldplay - God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (attraction, specifically to somebody you see as better than - yourself)
H.I.M. - Wicked Game (flirting, pre-date, first signs of inevitable power struggle)
Marilyn Manson - I Put A Spell On You (after first date, intense infatuation, uncertainty)
David Bowie - Cat People (Putting Out Fire) (Passion, the developement of the physical)
The Church - Under the Milky Way (Slight unease, attraction overriding still)
Regina Spektor - The Flowers (dating developed, waiting game, love not ensured)
The Psychadelic Furs - Ghost In You (development of love)
Oingo Boingo - Lost Like This (helplessness in the face of emotion)
Gary Jules - St. Christopher's Lullaby (the desire for exclusion of others, for space for the relationship)
R.E.M. - You Are The Everything (romantic love, consuming, the apex)
Nine Inch Nails - La Mer (The beggining of the end, beauty even in the decline)
Phantom Planet - By The Bed (realization)
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (self-examination, mourning, desire for reconciliation)
The Killers - Everything Will Be Alright (recovery, nostalgia)
Tears For Fears - Mad World (restoration of original world view, frusteration)
Sooo, I think I'm going to rip these lossless and burn them onto a CD, if anybody's interested in one let me know. Like I said earlier, I think this is a neat idea.
