So, here's the thing about the internet: it's a self-publishing media. And because it is a self-publishing media, the majority of what one finds on the internet is usually a bunch of crap. Whatever it is that you're looking for - or have found - usually isn't that well put together, or very intelligent, or grammatically correct... a lot of what one finds on the internet is a bunch of crap.
Now, here's the great thing about the internet: sometimes, you'll find something that makes wading through all the crap, totally worth it.
You'll find a video on Youtube that makes you smile after you've had a totally crappy day. You'll read some line on someone's blog or some fanfiction or whatever that totally just grabs you, that inspires you, that makes you want to write something of your own. You'll find a song or a performance that makes you feel like it's all worth it.
And the great thing about being able to find those gems in the coalmine? It makes you think that maybe the human race doesn't suck so much after all. Maybe our whole generation is concerned with something more than Paris and Britney (although I am a huge fan of Britney) and the newest pair of shoes. It makes you think that you can have your moment where you inspire someone too. It makes you think that it is possible to change the world - or, at the very least, someone's life.
At least, it does for me.
So, the next time that someone says our generation sucks, or the human race sucks, or the internet sucks, tell them they're wrong. The next time that someone says the internet is responsible for the downfall of America, tell them they're wrong.
Because they are. There's a lot of crap out here, but there are also things that can turn somebody's day around.
So? What are you waiting for? Stop reading my lame post and go do something that will inspire someone else.
We kind of owe it to each other.
