I need to know the ends of the earth

How are some people not born
with a sense of rebellion in head?
is it some latent gene
that never awakes
or a part of the mind
never used?

I don't understand those people
and they don't understand me
why don't they get that
you have to explore
to have things be?

I could never be content
to sit upon the bandwagon
i'd have to get out and
examine
every spoke and gear
before i hopped on again

I need to know
the ends of the earth
before i could stand to be back home

unless i have tested
the sands of time
and understood each tick
and decoded each riddle and rhyme

For i can not ignore
the whisper in the wind
as it soars along the shore
