I've doing a lot of commenting here and there, though mostly not on LiveJournal. I've mostly been reading and commenting on the state of the economy and American society in general.
I am of the opinion that America is in its golden years of slow decline. Things are going to get steadily worse. But it will be a very slow process. For many in this country, they may still be able to live a relatively decent life well into the the next decade. Especially if they continue to hold a job and earn good wages and keep their health and wealth about them as situations continue to deteriorate and the cost of everything continue to escalate. In this country, there will always be pockets of prosperity and peace, dwindling though they may be.
Beyond the next few years however, it's anyone's guess. But I think the tides are inevitable. And despite it being a slow process, little by little, America is in general decline.
There are too many problems. The practical, logical, fair solutions are too difficult for many to contemplate. Too much for entrenched interests to embrace. Therefore difficult, costly, last-minute solutions will be applied instead. Or natural events will make the choices for us.
