Friend-only

Most of my entries I set the privacy level to "Friends."  I've had a few posts this summer I've set to "Public" so I just realized I better explain that most of what I put up here I have to "friend you" for you to see.

I joined LiveJournal specifically to be able to keep in touch with my online friends and co-volunteers, so I figure most of the public probably doesn't need to see or care to see all the silly day-to-day stuff about my life.  I have a regular website where I also blog (most of the entries here are duplicates), something which I started so that I could keep in touch with my relatives.  I also wanted a place to store the poems and journal entries I write so I wouldn't have to worry about losing paper copies to tornado or flood or fire.  Being single I also tend to move around a lot due to the usual stuff that happens when you rent - roommates move or get married, you find a cheaper place or a better-managed place to live, etc.  Packing is a pain so I try not to have more personal possessions than I need.  I killed a lot of trees when I was a teenager, filling up journals with accounts of all the fun times I had with theatre, orchestra, choir, and dance friends.  My computer has become the place to sit down and write out my thoughts. There's something comforting about sitting in front of my laptop and putting my fingers over the keyboard.
