Author Madeleine L'engle Dies at 88

I have never understood why people are so affected when someone famous dies until now.  I never knew why it mattered so much.  But when I saw this headline a moment ago, I was devestated.  I literally started to cry.  Madeleine L'engle has been one of my favorite writers for some years now and not just her "children's" writing.  On my list of things to accomplish in my life, she was one of the one authors I wanted to meet.  And now I won't have the opportunity.

If you haven't, I recommend A Small Rain, A Severed Wasp, her Crosswicks Journal books (that begin with A Circle of Quiet) for your perusal.

I always loved her writing, her word choices, her thoughts....Even though I never knew her, it's the feeling that someone I am close to has died.  Perhaps reading someone's writing is a way of knowing them intimately in its own way.
