This is a class I should make.
As a film student, no one trained me the ergonomically-correct things to do with a thirty pound weight on one shoulder.
Today I met with a personal trainer at the lady-gym (Healthworks) I go to in Boston. I put a twenty pound barbell on one shoulder and stood like I normally did on set. "Oh my God. That's not good," said Jane, my personal trainer. "Your side is caving in and your spine is literally curving to the left."
Oops. So THIS is why I have to go to chiropractors and get adjusted all the time for the same hip misalignment -- why my back always hurts on my left side after it struggled to make up for my caved-in right side.
So Jane helped me to think of some things to keep mindful of while I hold the camera and some exercises for core and upper body strength. The core exercises I've been doing for the past week have been a MAJOR help in reducing my back pain.
Hooray! Fitness for Camera-people!
