Gonna get in the car.... accelerate... gonna drive so far...

So now I shall explain why I have been dead and will continue to be dead over the next week.

My family and I are poised on the brink of a trip down to Arkansas to see my dear friend Meggy and her family.

:D

Sorry, it just needed a big smiley.  ;)

Anyhow, we're leaving tomorrow and driving for two days to get there, so today is pack-and-prep day.  We have a lot to do.

As far as why I've been dead/gone for so long: 1) my mother has reinstated my internet restrictions, and 2) my laptop is not functioning properly, so I've been having to share the desktop with the rest of my family.  Which, naturally, has only left just enough time for checking email and my other favorite spots, and not enough time for posting.

Hopefully, once I get back from Arkansas, I'll be able to get into a posting habit again.

Oh!  I should note that I finished reading The Romulan Way by Diane Duane.  It was not as good as My Enemy, My Ally , and I made through it only because I skipped all the Romulan parts.  The book was arranged the same way that Spock's World was: she interspersed chapters of story with chapters on the history of the culture.  Which were well-written in and of themselves, but I was impatient.  There were no scenes with the triumvirate at all, so I'm pretty sure KCS would not be interested.  There was McCoy, of course, and I love him all by himself, so it made the book worth it for me.

Now I'm headlong into Swordhunt, and I am loving it to death.  :-D  The book demanded my entire evening last night, which I willingly surrendered.  I never cease to be awed by Duane's writing talent.  She has the ability to make me love her own original characters as much as I love the originals.  I so want to learn how to write like that. (*says to herself, "Practice!  Practice!  Practice!"*)
