The Jubjub Bird has landed. A lovely little boy. Dominant pied I think, because of a little yellow spot on the back of his head and solid-yellow primaries, but he doesn't have any colour bands on his belly. Not quite a baby - he appears to be going through his first molt. He's all pinfeathery. His head bars are receding, but he doesn't have an iris ring yet. There were a few younger birds available, but this guy was the most engaging of the lot; head bobbing, chatting, munching on greens, checking me out (he was interested in my hands rather than afraid of them), and giving his cagemates attitude. The perfect little monster. Pics to come tomorrow, after he's settled in a bit. Hooray for budgies!
