A Belated V-Day Entry <3

I wrote the first part of this entry about 12 days ago, on the 4th of February. Didn't seem to find the right time to post it, and well, now I found it. And it's a perfect one to celebrate love, albeit being two days late. But then, isn't it better having it late than never having it? So here goes.

Skin by Rascall Flatts is a beautiful song.

It’s a song about a girl, Sarah Beth, who is scared to death because she has cancer. Well, I’m thinking it’s cancer because of the lyrics. The first verse describes how she, with her parents, is waiting for the news, "so she sits and she waits with her mother and dad, and flips through an old magazine..."

And the song goes singing about the diagnosis, wherein the doctor says “between the red cells and white, something’s not right but we're gonna take care of you / Six chances in ten, it won’t come back again with the therapy we’re gonna try / It's just been approved, it's the strongest there is / I think we caught it in time…”

And then, she “dreams she’s dancing, ‘round and around without any cares, and her very first love is holding her close and the soft wind’s blowing her head.” Then Sarah Beth, is scared to death, because she wants to go to prom but “it would be a mistake for someone to take a girl without hair to the prom.” And then the song goes on to say that when Sarah Beth woke up that morning, there was hair on her pillow and she cried when she held it in her hand, “the proof that she couldn’t deny.”

Then it’s the chorus again, about how she dreams she’s dancing without a care in the world. This part is just so beautiful. And then, “it’s quarter to seven and the boy’s at the door, and her daddy ushers him in.” Yey, so she’s able to go to prom with her first love! Hehe.

And this is my favorite part: “…when he (the boy) takes off his cap, they all start to cry ‘cos this morning where his hair had been / Softly she touches just skin.” ♥ ♥ ♥  And they go dancing, for her first love is holding her close and for a moment she isn't so scared.

Aww, I swear! I was at Starbucks when I heard this, and I just stopped reading for Oblicon (bleh.) Haha! But, it’s a story that’s not rare today; people getting diagnosed with disease that snatches fifty years off their life. And sometimes, it happens to those who haven’t even experienced much of life.

It’s just so bittersweet how this girl in the song wants to go to prom but she’s worried because she doesn’t have hair (hello, mag-wig nalang? Hehe, joke) and then her date, this boy in the song, goes ahead and shaves off his hair for her. Aww, what a sweetheart.

Now that’s what I call love.

Watched Marley & Me last Saturday night with my family.

And yes, I criiied. At the start, I was trying to cover up by pretending to yawn and all. But then, silly dog, I couldn't control my tear ducts anymore!!! Huhu!!! Good thing I had a handkerchief with me. Yes, the first part was all fun and laughs but the ending was... Real. A classmate of mine (in French class) said that  when dogs know they're about to die, they just leave the home. And hearing that, is soooo sad. I'd hate for when that time comes with Scooby and the gang. Huhu.

It occurred to me that it's sad and unfair how dogs only get to live 15 years or less while humans go on for 70 years. It's hardly fair, isn't it? But oh well, theirs gets multiplied by seven. And although they could be the worst dog in the world, we don't mean it because we love them with all our heart.

I love the part when Marley was restless and he suddenly went by Jenny's side, because right then, she went into labor. And then he'd go by the driveway, waiting for the kids to come home after school. Aww, I miss my "Marley." A dog won't care if you're rich or poor; give him your heart and he'll give you his. ♥ ♥ ♥

Love, at its best. Despite all the pain, the ugliness, the torture and the tears, it endures forever. Belated Happy Heart's Day! ♥ ♥ ♥

PROVISION(S) FOR THE DAY: (Family Code)
Article 29/Article 31. Articulo mortis. Just because these are provisions, which allow marriages at the point of death. Not in a macabre way, but definitely in a romantic way, in the sense that people are willing to overcome even death just so they can be married… For eternity.
