(no subject)
So...the ritual went really well. Amazing well I have been told. As I said I was really nervous but it seemed like it worked out.
I first briefed everyone about the Navajo culture and ritual practices and handed out the 12 word song that you have to say at the end in order for the ritual to work. We went over the words and started. I did a different form of a circle cast, since it was meant to take us someplace specific rather than to step outside of time and space. That was fun and people liked what I had written.
After that I told the Emergence story, the story of Changing Woman and about the Warrior twins that killed the monsters. That took a while and that brought about a draw down of Talking God. That was...interesting. His energy is unlike any other deity I have done a draw down with. The energy was...soothing and filling in a way that is hard to explain.
Then we passed around the cakes and ale. We had really good frybread from tn_tiger and wintermoon3 made these great cornbread flat cakes. Ale was water. We didn't do needs because the Blessingway takes care of that pretty automatically. It ended really nicely with a repeat of the circle cast I wrote. Then I fell down and was really out of it for about 20+ minutes. I drank about a liter of Gatoraide before I felt better.
Saturday we went to the party of king_beej. The first part was a discussion of C.S. Lewis and then it was his birthday party. Lots of fun seemed to be had by all. The potatoes that I made vanished fairly quickly.
Otherwise life has been a series of breaks between Beowulf translation. The poem is awesome and all but this is just fricking killing me. But in the end I will have my own translated poem, which is cool. And I wanted this.
Other things are wandering around my head...like unwritten stories, paper ideas, art ideas, ponderings and the like. I wish I had the time to let some of that stuff out. Anyway...ttfn
