Since I didn't put the answers to the "Name the Jensen Ackles movie/show game" in my original story post.
“Sacrifice” References (aka the answers)
Characters:
Ben: A character from Season 1 (episode “Pollo Loco”) of Dark Angel, Max’s “brother,” designation X5-493, has an obsession with the Virgin Mary (whom he called the “Blue Lady”). He hunts down young men and tattoos his bar code on the back of their necks and pulls out their teeth as offerings to his Lady.
“The man” aka Dean: Dean Winchester, the badass, smart-mouthed half of our favorite demon-hunting duo from Supernatural, ran into a shapeshifter in Season 1 who morphed into his shape.
Tom/Harry (sounds like a slash pairing, lol): Tom is the main character in the movie My Bloody Valentine 3-D. Harry is the masked miner who goes on a killing spree but is supposedly killed right as he’s about to kill Tom in the film’s first ten minutes. Tom goes away for 10 years but comes back. The killings start again. *spoiler* Anyway, the new kills are all done by Tom, who has dissociative identity disorder, only he doesn’t know it because the personality called “Harry” is doing it all. *end spoiler* And why did I just tell you all that? I’m a bad summarizer.
Jason: Jason Teague, a character from Season 4 of Smallville, a show about a Kryptonian alien, which takes place in Kansas. *spoiler* He goes kind of nuts at the end. *end spoiler* (See? I’m improving at this summarizing thing.)
Jake: Jake is the main character from the movie Devour. He has “dreams” and after a long turn of events, *spoiler* the Devil turns out to be his mother. Either that or he’s crazy and killed a lot of people. *end spoiler*
Priestly: Boas Priestly, a character from Ten Inch Hero, who wears guyliner, has lots of tattoos, wears a brightly-colored Mohawk, and is partial to shirts with obnoxious or funny statements on them. He also lacks fighting skills and seems to be a little on the clumsy side. TIH takes place in Santa Cruz, CA.
The one who talks to himself: Eric Brady, from the soap opera Days of Our Lives. He has a twin, Samantha, also called Sami. Characters on the soap tend to talk to themselves, or employ voiceovers to convey what they’re thinking. Kidnapping and body-swapping are recurrent themes on the show, and is usually done by a character called Stefano. It takes place in a town called Salem, but not the witch-burning one in Massachusetts.
Malcolm: A character on Mr. Rhodes. He is portrayed as being very dim: “Not only is nobody home, the whole town’s been evacuated.” (Extra Trivia: This was one of Jensen’s first steady acting gigs. Travis Wester, who is Harry of the Ghostfacers, was also on the show.)
The one with the dog: Michael Duss, a guest character on Wishbone, a show that features a small dog with a big imagination. (A little something extra: This particular episode featured the Virgin of Guadalupe, one appearance of the Virgin Mary-connection to Ben, anyone?! Okay, maybe just in my fanfic-addled mind.)
Eddie G.: Eddie G. Robinson, from the TV movie Blonde, about Marilyn Monroe. He was a…spoiled socialite, I guess is the best description.
They are/were all played by Jensen Ackles.
Other things:
Indiana: Many Supernatural episodes take place in Indiana. Just a shout-out to that.
Holy water, knife: Dean is stealing holy water from the church because it is a demon/evil deterrent; the knife is probably made of silver, since it is fatal to shapeshifters.
X-Men, Avatar, Sigourney: Both films feature characters in blue full-body makeup or special effects. Mystique from X-Men is a shapeshifter. Sigourney Weaver is in Avatar (which is a James Cameron film-Cameron was involved with Dark Angel, which Jensen was in) and was in the Aliens films.
“ ‘I know a guy, who knows a guy, who’s met her.’ ”: Supposed to be a reference to Castiel. I mean, come on, right? If he’s an angel, and Mary is, well, Mary, then he’s gotta have met her.
“He killed him like a sack of meat.”: A reference to the Mr. Rhodes episode in which Malcolm auditions for a play. He says two lines: “They killed ya Tommy. They killed ya like a sack of meat.” It’s hilarious. I thought I’d use it for when I killed Tom off.
“He still had work to do.”: A recurrent line in Supernatural is “We have work to do.”
Thanks for reading! Writing this was fun.
