So, I'm sick and I got the rest of the week off. So, yay to such a great beginning for my Spring Break. ><
On other news, I watched two movies this weekend and I'd like to share my thoughts.
Repo! The Genetic Opera
I still don't know quite what to think about this movie. I liked it, yet.. some parts were just terrible. Mostly the acting, which was sometimes over the top. But, Alexa Vega and Anthony Head did a fantastic job. Anthony Head, wow! Evil!Giles! XD And Alexa looks so different! I still remember her from Spy Kids, but in this movie, she reminded me a young and more talented version of Amy Lee (Of whom I hate, but that's an entirely different story...)
Overall, I enjoyed it. Especially the addition of the 'gothic' feel, Sarah Brightman, and Terrance Zdunich. Paris Hilton was, sadly, perfect for her role as well. But the two who played the brothers.. I don't know. Just off. Anyways.. good movie anyways. It was strange, but I enjoyed it.
Ten Inch Hero
I have been wanting to see this movie for a while, so I was very pleased to finally be able to watch it. And I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed every single love story. Except, Tish... I really don't like her. She was a whore. She was sometimes sympathetic, but.. not. Ew.
But I found a very personal connection to the character of Jen, played by Clea DuVall (who is amazing on her own...) She reminds me so much of me. A 'nerdy', not a traditionally 'pretty' girl who has very low self esteem and who lives much of her life online. When she spoke about Tish not being able to understand, it broke my heart since I have always been the not so pretty girl with the more out-going and 'sexier' female friends.
I got angry because I was watching with my dumbass sister who said that her whining was stupid and that she should have gone to talk to Fuzzy with her friends. Oh yeah, that's smart. Go to the table with the extremely hot guy accompanied by your hotter than life friends. Very intelligent. >< So, I could see why she didn't want to go talk to him. Very low self-esteem, I get it. It was a bit mean, even a little rude, not to tell him that she got cold feet, but sending Tish or Piper to tell him would have been just as bad as going to the table with them. We'd like to think better of guys, but guys are guys.. so from her point of view, I totally understand.
I also appreciate that Jen did not want to be called gorgeous or beautiful to boost her ego, because that really doesn't help to raise someone's self-esteem. It really doesn't. She wanted to love someone and be loved in return (yes, I stole that from "Moulin Rouge" XD) Anyways, her storyline made me want to cry, especially in light of I myself having an online 'love' of whom if I ever met in person, I'd probably freak the fuck out and/or faint. (Yes, I'm talking to you there, Kirsty. *hugs you*)
Oh, and Jensen did a more than excellent job. Not doubt that without him, the movie wouldn't have been the same. But, my only qualm about his character is that in the end, he changed his appearance to be with Tish. WTF?! So not cool. It sent me flashbacks of "Hangman's Curse" which is such a good movie, but right at the end, the 'goth' kids change their entire appearance because they find 'God.' Fuck that. He liked the way he dressed. If Tish was really worthy, she wouldn't have made him change. And he wouldn't have changed just to be with her. That's ridiculous and out of character, and also makes his speech about judging someone according to how they look completely irrelevant. That was irritating, very irritating. Okay, rant over. O.o
Anyways, I would definitely recommend seeing this movie. I think I've found my style of 'chick flicks.' Not to mention it was wonderful to see Molly, Audrey, Connor, and Dean all on in one movie, ^_^
