People around here love to sit out on their wraparound porches during the days, soaking up the sun and warmth until their skin turns pruney and their rocking chairs have lost all their squeak. But now that that the weather has taken a chilly turn, they move their rockers inside or into the garage and pack down for winter, like bears or groundhogs.
But this is when I become active. I love to walk around in the early morning when the light is clean, new, and untainted by the human condition. Late at night is gun too, because in the pitch black coldness the stars radiate like you would not believe. They are resplendent in themselves and I could waste away hours underneath them, because I know that during the winter I am a little closer to them and further estranged from the sun. Until summer comes and thaws my plans.
