Aw, but that moment was so confusing, though? I hadn't anticipated the Samulet coming back when I went on an anti-Samulet diatribe just a few days ago. Among all possible Samulet scenarios, this was probably the best way to deal with it, and even this is an uncomfortably Dean-focussed compromise (actions > symbols, always).
It was....jarring, I think? Because a nice moment was very much earned by the episode, but this particular moment was not earned by the character. Dean has no right to be making ~magnanimous gestures. It makes sense that Dean would seize on this moment when Sam is particularly receptive and vulnerable to make an empty show - which, if anything, reframes the whole set of conflicts to be like "WE'RE okay now because I forgive YOU."
