Appropriately enough, these characters don’t write “diaries,” they’re more into memoirs. The Originals, especially Klaus, are even more self-important than they are objectively important as an unnatural aberration. While they don’t have any moral entitlement to this kind of authority over the stories of others, they do have the power, so that’s where it’s at.

Ooooh, nice. I like this distinction. Very astute.

But I also agree with Cami, that people do want to be good.

I'm less in agreement with Cami on this one. Sigh. :\

our darling mini-Melfi

I don't get this reference. Splainy?

Cami handles pain and fear by trying to understand it. She has a list of diagnoses and explanations for everyone, and a thoughtful explanation for everything. Klaus tells her she’s his pawn in a terrifying war and she tries to figure out what he’s doing to her brain; she loses her twin, half of herself, and she sets to obsessing as if understanding will give her any closure. And Klaus is correct that it won’t, though of course he doesn’t have any moral ( ... )

SO in love with it!

Melfi as in Tony Soprano's therapist.

This is the thing that Klaus completely fails to understand about power. It's not just about brute force, it's about politics. He has shown in the first few episodes that he can skillfully manipulate people, but nobody trusts him. He may be able to overthrow Marcel but, once he has gained power, he could never maintain it.

You know, I don't even know that Klaus doesn't acknowledge that truth. I just don't think he's got the skill to pull it off, and that's why he loves chaos so much.

OH ELIJAH YOU ARE SO RIDICULOUS <3333

Ah, ok. I've only ever seen 2 episodes of The Sopranos and it was years ago, so I don't remember. Thanks for explaining.

You may be right. Keeping everyone in a constant state of chaos certainly does seem to work for him.

Elijah is trying to negotiate peace with a 16-year-old. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, BRO.

He's thinking - "Katerina, is that you? I, mean, Elena, oops...Davina, it's Davina, right." Elijah loves reasoning with the confused teenies.

I'm loving this show. Madly.

Cami as Melfi is perfect - and soon, she may have to be Cami as The Hand because Klaus just can't figure out how to keep the serfs in place.
