I was disappointed that Godric died so soon. It would have been interesting to have a level headed ancient vampire around, who wasn't interested in massacring people.
Yeah, in some ways it makes sense, I guess? Because a character who's that powerful and not evil or just plain ax crazy makes any subsequent conflicts a lot less credible. But I was disappointed, too.
Lafayette's imprisonment - he's a clear-eyed survivalist who hasn't had to handle such immediate endangerment recently, but he's equipped himself to get through it.
Lafayette!! You know, while I'm glad that he didn't become a vampire, I think he would have made a decent one. He's adaptable.
The Godric-Eric dynamic was so interesting, and so much more functional than Bill's relationship with his maker. (Eric, in turn, tends to strike me as a better maker than Bill.)
Lafayette would've made a great vampire! Like he says, he's a survivor, and I have no doubt he'd make it work. Still, I'm cool with him either way, as long as he's around.
Oh, you always have the most interesting thoughts. Jason also fits into this framework, I think. He gets structure and a purpose, only to end up stabbed in the back and opposing Sookie, so promptly ditches it all to support her.
Ooooh, I like that. Jason's storyline felt to me like a good part of the cohesive story but I hadn't thought about how it worked thematically. But yeah, he gets what he thinks he's missing and it turns out not to be any good for him.

Usually, I think of TB as way too shallow and messy for that.
Now that I think back, Season 2 might be my favorite overall? But I don't tend to rewatch TB like I do Buffy.
