HAHAHAHA. I am clearly pretty attached to Klaus, but I do not DEFEND his bullshit. And if I did, I hope I would at least try to do better than "he's not worse than Stefan or Damon." That's a bit like saying "hey, he didn't strike out at T-ball, WHOOZA GOOD BOY."

3/4: I actually agree to some small extent about Klaus being the way he is because he was the most vulnerable, crapped-on member of his fucked-up family? I maintain that Klaus is the most sinned-against character in the TVD 'verse. He didn't ask to be BORN THAT WAY, or for his parents to resent him for it; he was way less secure in his siblings' love before they turned because they really didn't understand what things were like for him; he definitely didn't ask for his father to stalk him and try to kill him for a THOUSAND YEARS. But I think that whole psychological component to the character and the whole hybrid metaphor work as well as they do because it's not played as something that excuses him or makes the things he does *less horrible.* He can be interesting without being a woobie.

5: why

I have always believed that if push came to shove, and either Damon or Stefan had to choose between saving their brother or saving Elena I suspect that Elena would end up toast.

Oh, absolutely. They're such big children about Katherine and Elena because they can afford to be; they will never really give each other up for good.

Kat is so great. Since S2 I feel like the whole show has become a survivor narrative generally, but it started out with Kat individually and her total ownership of that "better you die than I" attitude. I really want to see Elena start to grow into that too.
