SO DISCLAIMER. This episode had a lot of disturbing content, and this is a show that is not notoriously self-aware with the implications it casts around sometimes. We all have different sets and amounts of things we can and can’t tolerate in watching/discussing. If you don’t or can’t set that aside, I get it. I do. No hard feelings. I’m not Read more... )

Damon is ready and waiting and as desperately in love with Katherine as he ever was. The only reason he didn’t end up like Charlotte was that he just needed his little brother..... But instead, Lexi manages to isolate Stefan from his brother so that he can become more dependent on her.

Ugh. This fits in line with my fanwank from last week. Which basically comes down to: IF there is a sire-bond between Elena and Damon - there is something funky going on between Caroline and Stefan. And between Tyler and Hayley - a blind trust =/= supernatural. Sometimes there's just manipulation and trust. And sometimes that gets funky and the lines get crossed without anyone realizing it.

They pushed that further this week with Tyler becoming the alpha and the Lexi/Stefan plotline. (Also everything you have to say about Damon/Katherine - it's like the framework for twisted dependency has been there all along.)

And anyway - I didn't even want to talk about this but you are so thoughtful and I (secretly) love where this is all going in terms of convoluted dependecy-issues. It hits a kink I didn't know I had. And everyone is going through it right now all at once.

lol. ia, except this is a kink I definitely knew I had. Possibly I have some Damon-level trust issues.

And everyone is going through it right now all at once.

Yes! That's the thing about young adulthood, is that you're not as totally emancipated as you thought you'd be. And they're all learning that at once, and it's going to be a spectacular train wreck. I CAN HARDLY WAIT.
