Ugh. Pissed about Gloria. Ugh, show, ugh.
THE PLOT CONTINUES TO FAIL TO THICKEN with Jeremy and Anna (and Vicki)
LMAO, right? Comic relief.
She has this Zero-Sum Salvatore thing in her head, where her identity is built around the way she loves the Good Brother and cares about but is disdainful toward the Bad One - but it’s not that simple and it never has been. And so caring about Damon (who won’t let her think of him as the good one, because he does everything he can to avoid expectations) rattles the foundations of everything for her.
Agreed. But what I like is that the show never indicated she has ~FEEEEELINGS for him; the most they said is that she probably kind of wants to bone him. Which is a cross all on that show must bear, I'm sure. IDK, it wasn't really Brand New Information to me.
Damon continues to have some of the best characterization on television at the moment. Because here’s the thing with personal growth: it’s not fast, it’s not linear; it never takes right away, it usually doesn’t net more than a little,

agreed. And I think that messes with her more than "now Damon's the Good-er brother and I love him" would because it introduces ambiguity into the whole thing, and she's clinging so desperately to what little balance and certainty she has. Damon is a chaotic agent even when he doesn't mean to be. And as much as usually he at least means it, this one I can't bring myself to pin on him entirely.
The way he's developing is believable. It's true to life. If he wasn't fucking up all the time, I wouldn't believe it. Period. It's not in line with the world's expectations for pretty boy romantic heroes, and that can only be a good thing, imo.

ROFL OH YOU.
But yeah, it didn't seem like new information to me, either. It's always been obvious that Elena ~cares about Damon, and she's physically attracted to him (I MEAN HOW COULD YOU NOT?), but it was easier to keep him in a totally separate asexual/aromantic box, because Stefan's the one she loves. But now Stefan's the "Bad Brother" and she's willing to forgive everything he's done, and Damon's... not actually Good, but he's the only one around, and the lines are starting to blur. It's not that she's in love with Damon; it just really freaks her out that it's even a possibility.

YES YES WHAT YOU SAY
yeah, idk, it just didn't seem like a ~revelation~ to me. I could have told you that Elena was physically attracted to Damon back at the halfway point of S1, at least. It seems like what's going on right now is that she can't reconcile herself to that aspect of her sexuality without romanticising things (i.e. projecting her romantic ideals on to him, trying to "change" him, etc.), because she's a romantic personality at heart (just like Damon!). And also probably because Stefan gave her precedent in that department. Elena really wants to believe that all her desires are pure (see: refusing to admit that her suicide mission in S2 stemmed from wanting to give up), and she just can't accept that there is a dark part of herself that wants that loss of control that would undoubtedly come with ~giving in to Damon.
I do think Damon is a little protective of Caroline (quite the “nobody’s allowed to mess with you but me” sibling vibe he has with Stefan, however much he’d never admit it)
Hahaha, I don't know that TVD has the same sort of "vampire family" deal that BtVS had with Darla/Angel/Dru/Spike (TVD vampire families tend to be, y'know, actually related) but I desperately want Caroline to be the little sister Stefan and Damon never had. I loved Stefan showing her the ropes last season, and Damon is the weird, abusive older brother that Caroline's rightfully pissed at most of the time, but she can't totally cut him off because he's ~family.
Also, I’m going to the special hell, because that Y U MAD, BRUH? scene after Ric wakes up made me giggle with the wrong!cuteness.
Hee! Right there with ya.
AND THEN DAMON AND KATHERINE WENT ON A ROAD TRIP AND THE WORLD IS MADE OF RAINBOWS AND PUPPIES.
IT'S LIKE THE WRITERS HAVE BEEN READING OUR JOURNALS!!!!
oh, they've totally adopted Caroline. One can only hope this leads to Damon trying to give Tyler the Have Her Home By Ten, Young Man talk. AND A PONY, I WANT A PONY.
