Though, I still condemn Damon's actions. I just can't get too twisted up about it. Especially since he's the only person who seems to recognise that Elena STILL HAS A DEATH-WISH.

I kind of have a halfhearted don't-do-that reaction to it. His motivations were ultimately selfish and I disapprove of that, but the perspective on what was going on with her and willingness to do something about it gets him points with me, ngl.

~Elena has much stronger characterization than I think I was expecting. I'm about where I am with Buffy and Cordelia with her, where I like but don't really relate to her, but I'm finding her development interesting.

~I am really happy about Stefan, because I feel like so many of my issues with him have been recognized, and this arc has the potential to explore and resolve some of them.

~re: Andie, I don't think it's a similar question in terms of the loaded imagery, but it's a similar tendency toward capitalizing on dubious capacity to consent to something to play for ambiguity and keep characters sympathetic. I don't think it's as bad as it was with Andie for a lot of reasons, but it's a similar narrative trick that always makes me suspicious.

~I do think actually bringing Vicki and Anna back, if that's what's happening, would be at least recognition of the issue, though it doesn't solve the mother problems. Nothing bad is ever allowed to happen to Liz ever.

AND YES TELL ME ALL THE THINGS. I did read your het-reccers post earlier and it was fantastic, by the way. I can't possibly add to your brilliant Elena analysis!

re: Andie. Ah. I kind of get what you mean. Yeah, I'm still super disturbed about that storyline, honestly. Actually, that's my main concern for S3--I'm kind of panicked that they're going to continue that relationship, and do even more damage to Andie's character. I've had peeps reassure me that it would be pretty OOC for Damon to keep carrying on with Andie at the point he's at now, but idk, I STILL WORRY. Your thoughts?

oh, that'd be awful if they actually put Andie and Damon together. She could end up being a great antagonist, though, especially now that Liz is in on the conspiracy.
