I adore CI. My brother got me started and now the entire family is addicted -- my parents and I watch USA at 8:00 like clockwork. Even just to see which one is on.
I love Goren, and I love Eames. Eames! She doesn't get nearly enough love! She's smart and snarky and she always has the perfect thing to say to or about Goren, that's funny and affectionate all at once. She gets him good at least once an episode; and I love the implied eye-roll she has going on. Plus, she's always right there with him, and picks up on his line of thought; he doesn't have to spell things out for her, and I love that. I mean, yes, Goren is totally whacked out, but he's also gentlemanly and a bit goofy. Plus, there's always the head-tilt. :) They're meant to be Holmes and Watsonish, and I think it works.
Anyway, I love it. I like the regular L&O, and I love CI but SVU really annoys me. Sometimes it's just that it's creepy, but most of the time, it's usually because either Benson or Stableri is getting on my nerves. Or both.
I've had CI fic rattling around in my head for a while . . . but I have yet to start it. What's out there is so . . . bad. I mean, I have yet to find the good stuff, it might be there, but, yeah.
where did you come across such lofflay iconage? ;_; please point me in the direction, unless you made it, in which case, would you please send me in the direction of some that you've made?
Eames is awesome XD Like you said, she's really the perfect fit for Goren, she's the straightman to his psychopath. They work almost intuitively together which is pretty cool in a world where teevee executives seem to go out of their way to create dramatic tension between partners. I like that she's the only person who seems to be able to follow his line of thought or action or anything all of the time. And she's just awesome XD Not a big fan of the weird relationship between Goren and... uh, the redheaded chick who replaced Eames while she was pregnant. The dynamic is just off, to me.
I used to love regular L&O (I was basically raised on it), but these past few seasons, ever since Angie Harmon left, really, I just haven't been able to force myself to care. Once Jerry Orbach left I didn't even bother watching it anymore. But old!school L&O is still awesome. SVU was just about my life my senior year of high school and freshman year of college. Last season it sort of jumped the shark for me, but I've seen the first four or five seasons about a dozen times.
Wow. I need a life.
I think CI fic would be hard for me because... I have trouble writing people who are so much smarter than I am. I mean, I might be able to write "Goren and Eames go ice skating" but I would never be able to write an actual case unless I ripped it off from real life. It would blow my mind, trying to figure it all out. BUT YOU SHOULD. For serious, if you're able to nail that idea, write it because... yes. Bad fic should be overpowered by good fic, I feel.
Now that I've rambled about crime dramas for half my night, I'm going to go try and sleep ^_^

In conclusion: CI! Whee!
