2013 in review!
I'm kind of vaguely hoping to finish one more story in 2013, so I'm holding off on the writing meme for another day or two, but here are the other annual memes!
1. Your main fandom of the year?
Still X-Men: First Class. I got into a lot of other things, most notably Welcome to Night Vale, which I even wrote some fic for, but most of my fannish activity was still XMFC.
2. Your favorite film watched this year?
The Conjuring! Catching Fire was a runner up!
3. Your favorite book read this year?
I'm guessing that because Code Name Verity wasn't on my list for last year, that I read it early this year. So...that. As much as I hated it. :'(
4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
The Pippin cast recording!!
5. Your favorite TV show of the year?
Gosh, what am I watching? New show-wise, Brooklyn 99 and Sleepy Hollow. Still enjoying old shows, I guess? And, these past few weeks I've become obsessed with Leverage, so there's that.
6. Your favorite online fandom community of the year?
The last two years I've put AO3, which is still true. Also, probably Twitter? Which is fannish people and non-fannish people and everybody, so it's probably cheating, but it is the social network I use the most.
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Welcome to Night Vale, I guess!
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I still wish I could use tumblr. And, because it's fresh, I continue to be disappointed at people who casually erase Erik's Judaism, especially in ~*Christmas*~ fics. Um, what else? People bitching about DoFP because they were afraid Charles and Erik wouldn't get screen time together/the costumes were ugly/whatever bullshit but NOT noticing that there is basically only one woman in the movie? Wolverine being given Kitty Pryde's role in DoFP? Hahaha, I do so much bitching, idek. There were happy things too! But this question was specifically about disappointments.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
What teevee do I watch with dudes in it? Uh...oh, Ben Wyatt, maybe?
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Vera Burr! Kate Andrews! Gladys Witham! Betty McRae! Rosa Diaz! Leslie Knope! Ann Perkins! April Ludgate! Donna Meagle! PARKER.
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Meeting Anne-Marie!!
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
I don't know that I actively missed anything. I've missed people.
13. The fandom you haven’t tried yet, but want to?
Hm, nothing particularly fannish that I'm trying to get into. I'm happy where I am.
14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Writing more fic, meeting new people, DragonCon, Heroes Con, seeing friends, all my shows coming back, and, of course, MUTANT LONG WEEKEND and DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, obvs.

What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before?
Hm........I went on a work trip? I.......don't know. Nothing that springs to mind!
Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
• Look for a job in my field
Looked, but did not find. Did take steps towards going back to school, though?
• Try to get my mental shit in order• Write more. Stick to a schedule.
I wrote about the same amount, despite my really long horrible block. I DID start a new schedule in November which I'm going to adopt as my all-the-time schedule, SO.
• But give yourself days off where you DON'T stress about deadlines, real or imagined.
I...need to get better about that.
• Try to be more positive in general. Don't get bogged down by the worst of every situation.
Ahahahahahaha...no. That did not happen.
2014 Resolutions:
+ NEW JOB
+ Stick to the new writing schedule within reason. Try at least Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday
+ Get your shit together, brain-wise
+ Meet new people
+ Sleep more
Did anyone close to you give birth?
Um......hm. I don't think so. I think 2014 is going to be the year of babies, to be honest. I can't remember if Becca's cousin had her baby in '13 or '12. I think it was '12.
Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.
What countries did you visit?
Just the US. But I went out to Texas and Oregon, which were new states for me!
What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2013?
More time, more sanity, a better job.

DragonCon, as always! Meeting Anne-Marie, Renata's visit, moving here, Amy visiting us...
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Uhhhhhhhhhh I honestly don't know :\

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh everything?
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Pneumonia :( And brain stuff. And I sprained my toe.
What was the best thing you bought?
Tickets out to see pearl_o and ivy_rat, tickets to PIPPIN and Macbeth and such.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
My awesome, awesome friends. My brother's.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Some jerks on the internet. Some jerks in the government. Some jerks in the country projecting their crazy ass radical opinions on the rest of the country.
Where did most of your money go?
Grown-up type stuff (rent, utilities, groceries), show tickets, travel.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Con! Pippin! Friends! Travel! Anne-Marie!
What song will always remind you of 2010?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm idk. I don't think I know any of the big pop songs from the year and there's no particular great new album that came out that I listened to non-stop. Mostly because I'm terrible at music XD
Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Sadder. Ugh. Brains :(
b) thinner or fatter? Same, I think.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer, I think. Car stuff and more expensive rent.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Baking. Sleeping. Hanging out with people. Seeing my family.

Being depressed.
Did you fall in love in 2013?
With Carlos, perfect and beautiful. I fell in love instantly.

Bomb Girls, but as for new ones, Brooklyn 99 was the big winner.

I asked people on tumblr and el jay to upload music they liked for me and I really enjoyed a lot of it! Other stuff was not super up my alley, but it was a fun experiment overall and I'm glad I did it :D

A new apartment? A trip out west? Um...con stuff?
What did you want and not get?
A new job. More sleep.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 28! such_heights was visiting, and we went to the Museum of Science and had dinner with all my local friends at Cheesecake Factory and watched Bomb Girls!
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Probably getting a job doing something I really want to do, getting more sleep, having less trouble writing.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Um, slightly disheveled secretary? Retro-ish dresses and skirts with sweaters and blouses.
What kept you sane?
You guys ♥ mcwonthelottery specifically, but all my fandom friends, all my con friends, all my local friends...all of you. Texting pearl_o fifty times a day.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Anne-Marie, hands down. I CAN'T BELIEVE I MET HER. I CAN'T BELIEVE I TALKED TO HER. I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE TOUCHED ME AND CALLED ME DARLING.
What political issue stirred you the most?
I've tried to stay out of politics this year, for the sake of my blood pressure/not killing myself.
Who did you miss?
Pretty much everyone when they are not right next to me. Everyone I left behind when I moved. Everyone here before I moved. Everyone I hung out with at con and then had to leave behind. The usual.
Who was the best new person you met?
Who is new this year, guys?? I DON'T REMEMBER. Uh, Katie and Maia at con, both of whom I knew before, but I got to know them better. Uh, I think I hung out with aesc in person for the first time in 2013? And...who else did I meet for the first time in person? A few of you, probably? idk. YOU'RE ALL THE BEST, BASICALLY ♥
