Hello, internet! I'm back! And I feel at least slightly better.

Long story short, I was not handling some anonymous hate as well as I would have liked the world to believe. That plus how busy work has gotten and my inability to keep up on social media that continues to go on without me (namely Tumblr but also Twitter to a lesser extent) left me generally despondant and paranoid and self-hating. I took a couple days off from the world and I feel much better. Here are some things that have happened since then:

  • There was a work party at Fenway with free food and free alcohol. It was good times.
  • I saw The Amazing Spider-Man. It was okay. I loved Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. That's about all I took away from it.
  • My landlord put my air-conditioner in.
  • I re-read all of Uncanny X-Men 1-10, read most of X-Factor for the first time, caught up on Batwoman, re-read the first three Lemony Snicket books, read the second Brixton Brothers book, edited a bunch of short stories for a friend who's trying to get published, and started reading Cold Cereal.
  • I located and then immediately misplaced by Days of Future Past. (Yes, I know, I'm torturing myself. I CAN'T HELP IT. Also, I need to brush up on my Kitty.)
  • Did I know that the Peter David who created Space Cases was the same Peter David who writes comics? If I didn't, I know that now.
  • Had Romantik Beerz with mcwonthelottery, brilligspoons and mayatawi.
  • I made new online friends.
  • I tortured myself into misery over my inept social skills as I waited for email replies, positive that I have completely alienated people, despite the fact that it's only been four days, Kaitlyn, get a goddamn grip.
  • (But pretty much I am sure everyone hates me, because crazy brain.)
  • I watched Bridesmaids for the first time and painfully over-related to two of the characters (see above).
  • I saw The Pact with chiasmus at midnight at the Coolidge and it was really good.
  • I hung out with a local XMFC fan from tumblr and probably didn't completely embarrass myself.
  • I gave littledust the best birthday present and also we watched Dead Poets Society together, as DPS is ~*the fandom that brought us together*~.
  • While there, Kelsey, her roommate, and I came up with THE BEST XMFC RPF FIC EVER.
  • I realized that the thing I bought bessiemaemucho for Christmas that I was going to sneak into her belated birthday package and pretend I just got actually has Christmas decorations on it.
  • I realized that just now as I leaned over to get a pen that rolled off my desk.
  • I haven't written anything, still, but that's about to change.

I will expound on any of the above by request!

I mean, generally, I do feel better and more clear-headed. I think I'll probably continue to stay away from Tumblr for a while because something about that platform just makes me feel awful and inadequate, but I'll still load up the Anne-Marie tumblr. Being out and seeing people definitely helped and spending all day today in my bedroom also helped. Hopefully this week's vacation will help even further.

(Becca, Tina, and I are going to New York for a few days. If anyone wants to have sweet hangs, please let me know!)

I might have some recs and stuff later. Or, instead of writing recs, I might daydream about The Best XMFC RPF Ever. It's hard to tell, really.

How are you, internet?
